The 5th Annual Riverside BBQ Classic will be held August 1st, 2009. Cooks meeting will be July 31st. Each year our BBQ contest kicks off our county fair; which we hope this year is a huge success since we decided to become sanctioned by the KCBS Association.

We will have two different categories to choose from when entering the contest. The first category is for those only wanting to participate in the judging of KCBS meats (brisket, pork ribs, pork, and chicken). The second category is for those wanting to enter KCBS meats plus entering to have their choice of food judged by the public. Any type of meat, side dish, or dessert made by team may be served to the public for judging. Each contestant participating in People's Choice will need to bring their own food to prepare. Small containers will be provided for serving samples to the public.

The Riverside BBQ Classic is held at Riverside Park located in Iola KS. Iola is located in the southeast part of Kansas; Hwy 54 goes through downtown Iola and Hwy 169 passes on the east side of town. Riverside Park has been recently renovated over the last two years; new bathrooms and showers will be provided. Contestants will also be provided ice at no charge.
